What to Expect from a Private Coaching Session

Are you considering private coaching?

Whether you’re looking to advance your career or invest in your wellness, private executive coaching can make all the difference. If you have booked your first coaching session, or are considering taking the next step, it can be beneficial to have an understanding of what you should expect.

Knowing what to expect from private coaching can help you to better prepare for your session, align your expectations and open your mind to something new.

To Engage in Open and Honest Communication

With a private coaching session, you will be the main focus of discussion.

We will take the time to discuss your needs, aspirations and expectations from your life. Not to mention the areas of your current life that you want to change or improve. No matter the outcome you are looking to achieve from private coaching, we will need to engage in open and honest communication.

While I always encourage my clients to step outside of their comfort zone and really open up, I also find great importance in respecting boundaries and taking things as slowly or quickly as needed.

Listen and Take Notes

As much as you will have the opportunity to share your experiences, goals and aspirations, you will also have the chance to gain feedback.

I always encourage my clients to bring a notebook and pen to take notes. This can help to document what is discussed during the session, while also plan goals and action items.

I will provide you with feedback throughout your session, along with advice to help you plan goals and create a strategy to achieve them. While hearing feedback is not always easy, I do encourage my clients to be as receptive as possible.

We both share a common goal - to help you live the life you want and deserve!

Set Goals and Make a Plan for Success

As mentioned above, goal planning is a significant part of my coaching services.

It begins with a discussion about what your current life looks like and what could stand to be improved. From living a healthier lifestyle and focusing on yourself, to thriving at work and elevating your career to entirely new heights, a goal and plan for success is key to long-term improvements.

Your goals should always follow the SMART method:

  • Specific

  • Measurable

  • Achievable

  • Relevant

  • Timely

Following this method is key to setting a successful goal!

Commit to Lasting Change

At the end of the day, you must be committed to lasting change.

As mentioned before, I always encourage my clients to maintain an open mind. This goes hand-in-hand with making a lasting commitment to making certain changes. That’s why I work with my clients, after all - to provide them with the knowledge, tools and motivation to live the lives that they want and deserve.

Once we have established what your goals are and the lifestyle changes you need to make in order to achieve them, it’s time to put in the hard work. This could be weeks, months or even years of dedication.

But, no matter how long it takes, the key to success is your commitment and dedication.
